SSL
Information

Students can receive Student Service Learning (SSL) credit for most Community Girls activities. Community Girls projects are usually with MCPS pre-approved SSL organizations. If needed, the student can request pre-approval for the event from their school’s SSL coordinator. After the event, students must bring us their SSL form which we will sign to document the time spent on the Community Girls Inc. event.

Our Activities

What We Do

We perform community service in supervised activities. Typically, 15 to 30 volunteers participate in a 2-to-6 hour service activities with one or more chaperones. Community Girls Inc. have participated in the following activities:

• Working with Linkages to Learning to collect and wrap toys and help distribute them at the Holiday Party.

• Collecting food for MANNA, Montgomery County's food bank for the needy

• Making fleece blankets for homeless and sick children for Project Linus

• Planting, harvesting, cleaning up at Red Wiggler Farm, a self-sustaining farm that hires mentally-challenged adults.

• Participating in the Martin Luther King Day of Service.

• Working with Intergages intergenerational programs that bring young people and senior citizens together.

• Making sandwiches for McKenna's Wagon, a part of Martha's Table serving the homeless.

• Help with gardening at Montgomery Ave. Women’s Center.

• Provide supplies and plantings for the landscape project at Stepping Stones Shelter
